For this installment of the Black Excellence Series, we acknowledge Dr. Percy L. Julian!
In 1935, he synthesized the drug physostigmine; synthetic cortisone that was affordable and able to be mass-produced. Without this ground-breaking feat, many of our patients would not be able to supplement their physical therapy care for various forms of arthritis, sciatica, autoimmune diseases, and other inflammatory conditions. Black excellence opened up a new realm of possibilities for pain management and we are grateful for Dr. Julian’s contribution to our community and beyond!✊🏾

⭐️Black Excellence Series⭐️

Chelsea is a true USC Trojan (Fight On! ✌️), earning her DPT in 2017 after completing both her undergrad and Master’s in Public Health at USC. She’s spent the past 8 years at Casa Colina Hospital, specializing in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine. Passionate about lifelong learning, Chelsea also completed her OCS and a fellowship in movement science.

In her spare time, she also serves on the board of the USC BKN & PT BAA and is dedicated to inspiring and supporting the next generation of physical therapists.

Last week several of our members had the honor of gathering in Anaheim, CA for the APTA Combined Sections Meeting — and what a time it was! ✨

PTs from across the country came together to learn, connect, build community, and soak up that beautiful SoCal sunshine. 🌴☀️

Keeping the community energy strong, our association members, alongside some of our incredible .uscbknpt students, came together for an evening of food, fellowship, and joy at Georgia’s Restaurant (Black owned business) in Anaheim.

The conversations were meaningful. The laughter was loud. The fellowship was real. ❤️💚🖤
