We are excited to announce that Helen Gordon Child Development Center at Portland State University is hiring Lead Teachers and Assistant Lead Teachers. A Lead Teacher works collaboratively with a co-Lead or an Assistant Lead Teacher and provides, guides and extends activities to engage children’s interests and to foster social and cognitive growth. A Lead Teacher works to provide an inclusive environment that supports all children which may include individualized care.
An Assistant Lead Teacher assists and works collaboratively with a Lead Teacher to create and maintain an appropriate learning environment for young children. They assist young children with toileting and self-care while promoting the child’s ability to develop self-care skills and work to provide an inclusive environment that supports all children which may include individualized care.

The starting salary rate for the Lead Teacher position will be between $17.80 and $20.15 per hour. The starting salary rate for the Assistant Lead Teacher position will be between $16.60 and $17.80 per hour. Starting salaries may be negotiable above these rates, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, including reduced tuition at all seven institutions within the Oregon University System. This benefit can be transferred to one dependent (i.e. spouse, domestic partner, dependent child, or domestic partner's dependent child).
