Calling all sports fans! The spread of this virus might have taken away our sports (for now) but it has not taken away our athletes. Many of your favorite athletes like Steph Curry, Rose Lavelle, Tony Hawk, Simone Biles and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have come together for a pretty cool campaign called Athletes for COVID-19 Relief. Here is the link: https://athletesrelief.org/athletes/. Each athlete donated some autographed stuff and all you have to do is make a donation for a chance to win the memorabilia. The number of donations at this time appears to be shockingly minimal which is why I wanted to help generate more awareness for the cause. Please join me to help raise money to fight COVID-19 and you could end up as the lucky winner of some cool memorabilia. They also have competitive aspect to the fundraiser which is kind of cool. Each athlete campaign features a leaderboard tracking how much you have helped to raise by sharing how much your supporters have pledged to the cause. Thank you to all the athletes participating in this very cool initiative for using your platforms to lend such an important assist!

In our 3rd annual sports marketing competition, students were tasked with the development of a logo for their franchise as part of the second sports marketing challenge which required students to develop a branding strategy. The next challenge for our participating schools is to engage their "fan base" by encouraging them to like their logo on Twitter () and Facebook. The top four teams that gain the most likes will earn bonus points so please "like" the logo you like best!

Received an AMAZING package in today's mail... So moved by the effort and creativity that the sports marketing students at Port Angeles High School put into these thank you notes. Each was customized with a theme to fit each individual speaker from visits to the Blazers, Timbers, Nike, W+K & Columbia Sportswear. So cool. Totally made my day and I'm sure will be appreciated by the recipients once I deliver them. Glad to know the art of a thank you note hasn't bypassed this generation! ; )
Thanks guys, very much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the trip...stay classy Port Angeles!

The fact that Syracuse basketball, ranked by Forbes last year as the sixth most valuable NCAA basketball program in the country, has just 25,000 Twitter followers could be the upset of the tournament. An unexpected Final Four run could change all that. Case in point? 4,000 new followers this week alone.
But where do the rest of the teams remaining in the NCAA Tournament stack up? This infographic, created by sports marketing students from Helena High School and Capital High School in Montana, provides a nice summary as the Sweet Sixteen rolls on... Nice job by our students!

*********************** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE *************************
Students from Rodger Hutley's Sports Marketing class at Little Elm High School entered a team in the SCC FFL (Sports Career Consulting Fantasy Football League) Marketing challenge and finished seventh nationally (approximately 50 High Schools started out and 20 finished) and first in Texas. The Little Elm High School management team consisted of Juniors Blake Boughey, Jared Troxclair and Brandon Bivins. The team prepared a comprehensive sports marketing plan for an imaginary new NFL franchise called the Toronto Owls. The students project was recognized by the judges as having proposed the best overall fan experience strategy.
Blake, Jared and Brandon are huge sports fans who are planning careers in the Sports business field after college. Sports Marketing is a CTE class that is part of the Marketing cluster taught at Little Elm High School. Sports Marketing and Sports Management are two of the fastest growing college majors and according to Price Waterhouse this $57 billion industry is projected to grow almost 5% a year over the next five years. Blake and Jared will be representing Little Elm High School again as a team at the DECA Career Development conference later in January.
