The sunshine Center provides childcare for children ages 0-6years old, we are a play based preschool that teaches children through play.

This evening we had our inaugural Parent Workshop focusing on Social/Emotional development and child autonomy. We're extremely thankful for the parents who were able to attend. Thanks to Double Mountain Overlook Taproom for providing our catered dinners tonight. We love to support local businesses. Big thanks to Teacher Layni and Teacher Abby for their presentations this evening. The parents got a lot of great information to help their children be the best versions of themselves. We did record the event so that we can provide it to families who couldnt attend or those who'd like to learn more about developmental milestones beyond academic achievement. "Behold, all things become new." 😁
One of the benefits of being a part of Preschool for All Multnomah County is the ability to reinvest in our preschool. The technical support provided to us by the PFA program helped us realize we needed some improvement to our play area. These extra set of eyes and funding helped us consider ways to make our program better. Because we are constantly working to make our space beneficial to the children in our care, this playground will help engage the children in gross motor play (large body movements) like climbing and balancing. It also ads creative outlets with the inclusion of musical instruments.
You may only see a play structure, but we see an extension of the classroom by using our outdoor space more effectively. In addition to the science components: fruit and flower gardens, we also added music, increased social interaction (the creation of games and cooperative play), and a greater desire for physical endurance by renovating our outside space.

Tomorrow we will be celebrating 15 years that we have been providing high quality child care in North Portland. Its still a surreal feeling everyday that this is my creation. 🥰
Im extremely grateful to my staff and the families who have entrusted us with their most prized possessions. The environment we have created here at the Sunshine Center is one that is valued and appreciated by all who walk through our doors. Heres to 15 more years of helping to mold the next generation of children to becoming life long learners, to the development of the staff who come everyday ready to build up our kids and to the families who have supported us and helped us become who and what we are today. This is a community effort and Im thankful to all of you.

We had a family tour today and they asked if we could provide a referral. We sent a message to th3 families in care and EVERY FAMILY responded saying they'd be happy to provide a testimonial!! 🎉😃👍👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 that makes me pump my chest out!!
