Seeing all that rain recently can be sort of a bummer, but let’s not forget…It is still PERFECT running temperature right now. Hope you all are getting out there and training well!

I had the BEST time volunteering until 1AM on Saturday at the . I probably cooked 8 lbs worth of hashbrowns and bacon that night? Great stories from everyone and got a quick dip in a river before things started to heat up. Great times.

Today I am volunteering at the Oregon 200! Which means you have a whole weekend to do your workout! I want to incorporate some speed into workouts over the next few weeks and do to that, you will need your 5K time. So find it! Map out a course or search Magnus 5K on Strava. Good luck!

How do you feel after a workout? Such a great way to monitor your overall response to your training. You don’t need a watch, app, or sensor. Just a healthy introspection of you and how you feel that day. Did you feel like crap after a training session you’ve easily done before? How was your last couple of days? Stressful? Keeping track of your response towards training can give you insight into how you are feeling within the last couple of days and weeks as training goes along.

I really liked this article! Mainly because it had a solid way of looking at the effects of different styles of training programs. From this research, it supports the idea of using subjective and objective assessments to help guide your training. Is one superior than the other? According to the this research, subjective assessments were better than HRV, but I think we may be splitting hairs a little bit. What works for you? THAT’S the question. If one is better for you, use it! If neither, training still improves! Optimizing is relative, not absolute.

It’s the second week in August! Can you believe it!?!? I heard from friends that they are all experiencing “panic motivation” with their training, with Fall races coming up quickly. Summer is a fun time for all things outdoors but sometimes at the expense of training. And that is OK!! Will you need to adjust your goals? Maybe, but if you have been laying a good base, you’ll be able to get back into training in no time. So don’t fret, and get back out there!

Technically it was a lot of steps just trying to figure out where this bench was…but the point still holds. Most south I’ve been running to date 🥳🥳🥳
