It’s hard to believe we’re heading into our LAST Fun Friday until fall 🍋🌿

These gatherings have become such a special part of Fern & Fir — slower mornings at the park, muddy shoes, shared snacks, kids creating games together, nature exploration, and the kind of childhood memories that feel simple in the best way.

For our final Fun Friday on May 22nd, we’re celebrating with a day full of connection, creativity, and outdoor play at Max Patterson Park!

Pick up/drop off : Max Patterson Park - SE Gladstone
12-5pm
Ages 4+

✨ Planned activities include:
🧭 Treasure map making & scavenger hunts
🏸 Badminton, co****le & field games
🌿 Nature exploration & open-ended play
🔥 Fire building & marshmallow roasting

I’ll also be providing:
🍋 DIY lemonade station
🌭 Hot dogs (vegan + regular options)
🍓 Fruit & snacks
🍠 Sweet potatoes for roasting
🔥 S’mores supplies

If your child has a favorite outdoor game or activity they’d love to share with the group, feel free to bring it along! We love when kids bring their own creativity and ideas into our park days 💛

Each Friday in May is designed to give children a mix of hands-on learning, creativity, social connection, and real-world skills — from scavenger hunts and herbal crafting to navigation games and our end-of-season celebration.

Hi Fern & Fir families,

Spring has officially arrived, and we’ve been soaking up every bit of it 🌱

Over the past few weeks our Fridays kids have been fully immersed in hands-on learning and play — the kind that sticks.

We’ve been carving, exploring animal tracks, and diving into how animals adapt to their environments… and even connecting it back to ourselves — how humans have evolved, adapted, and learned to survive and thrive.

We’ve also been practicing fire building (safely and intentionally), working with tools, and building confidence through real experiences — not worksheets.

One of our favorite parts? Our adventures to Max Patterson Park — just a 10-minute walk from our indoor space. It’s become an extension of our classroom, offering:
• Splash pad fun
• Tennis courts
• Open fields for games
• Playground exploration

And just a little further — Dahl Beach Park (only a 15-minute walk!) gives us:
• Sand bar play
• River exploration
• Wide open field space
• Another beautiful playground
