Dear Friends and Families,
On December 29th, a gang of thieves got on our roof and systematically dismantled our roof-top heating and cooling (HVAC) units. We are reaching out to you today with an emergency request for your support.
The thieves were after copper and did not care what damage they caused. Sadly, the damage to our units is so extensive that we will need to install all new units. Something we did only five years ago. The thieves also damaged our recently resealed flat roof in the process.
PMA was one of 15 small businesses in our community that had their HVAC systems destroyed. So we made the decision to significantly upgrade our building security to prevent any further incidents.
This absolutely breaks our heart. The added expense of repair, replacement, and additional security will cut deeply into our budget. Altogether costs will be over $140,000 and while we have insurance, we don’t know how much will be covered.

How You Can Help
We are launching this urgent appeal to raise funds for the immediate replacement of our damaged heating unit. We understand that times are tough for many, but every contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in defraying our costs.
• Donate Online: Visit HERE to make a secure online donation.
• Send a Check: Make checks payable to Portland Metro Arts and mail them to 9003 SE Stark St. Portland, OR 97216. Please write "Heating Unit Replacement" in the memo line.
• Attend one of our upcoming fundraising events: Brigitta’s Garten, the meal between the Coppelia performances; An Enchanting Event, magic show with Scott Anderson of An Evening of Illusion
• Spread the Word: Share this appeal with your friends, family, and colleagues. Your voice can help us reach more people who are willing to lend a helping hand. A number of companies will match employee donations. Check with your company’s HR department.

A Message of Hope
We believe in the power of community and the generosity of compassionate individuals like you. Together, we can overcome this challenge and keep offering our amazing programs without having to significantly raise our rates to meet these added expenses.
Thank you for considering our request. Your kindness and support will help us continue to meet our mission.

Sincerely,
Nancy Yeamans, Executive Director
