Freeform Forest School

Freeform Forest School is an outdoor Preschool located in Portland, Or. Freeform’s teaching philosophy is inspired by Paulo Freire and Critical Pedagogy. We believe children should explore what interests them, have the freedom to express themselves, play and create. Children have the innate ability to be agents of social change. Striving for a better future means we are invested in community care, equity, empathy, abolition and inclusion. We teach these things through nature, understanding its interconnectedness, understanding how all things work together to survive and flourish. We craft and create to express ourselves and to admire and understand that each child comes from a different background and culture. We forage, create shelters, make food and fire to have a skill set, but to also know what it means to be safe, nourished + how to help others have their basic needs met. We make music to get loud, to use our voices and to share our feelings, thoughts and stories. All things at Freeform are taught and explored through age appropriate activities and conversations. We love to have fun. We love to explore and we love to treat our peers with care, understanding and love.
