Lots of Fenders in the front of the shop tonight. The ‘66 Princeton has just got it. In the back room we’re setting up for one more Tweed Princeton build class for 2022.

Today in the shop: speaker trouble with an old Jensen, Friedman gets the tonal thumbs up from the shop, a 70’s Twin mid rebuild, 1966 and 2008 Princeton Reverbs, finished Tweed Princeton shop build burning in, and a cool old Marshall in for a bit of voicing.

I forgot to take many pictures today, but here we’ve got a cracked solder joint on a Univalve, an Engl blending in with the toolbox, and a lovely Tweed Princeton build wired for a customer by the always-meticulous Dave and !

Today we have a pristine 1966 Princeton Reverb, a Mesa with a bad JFET in the reverb return path, and we’re putting together parts kits for this weekend’s Tweed Princeton workshop.

Today we have a particularly nice Deluxe Reverb, the eternal Hot Rod Deluxe upgrades, and the Showman with heaters rewired. Nice clean work on the Showman by

Unsurprisingly Rosie workshop sold out fast. Hopefully we can talk Chris into doing another one. Keep an eye out here or joint the mailing list on our site to hear about it first if it happens. In the meantime… we’ve booked another Tweed Princeton workshop in March. We helped people build 40 of these in 2022 and they’ve been coming out great. There is no compromise on the parts and we teach you how to do a professional job with the lead dress. We also cover a bunch of basic tube theory over the course of the weekend. We’ve got a bunch of new classes and workshops coming up next year, and we’re starting off with a very special one. We’re excited to welcome Chris Benson of to the shop January 21-22 for a two-day workshop where each participant will build and take home the Benson “Rosie” amp. What is the Rosie you ask? It’s a special version of the 1 Watt Vinnie with a custom output transformer. Chris needs no introduction as one of the most original thinkers on the guitar gear scene. He’s a mentor and one of the nicest guys in the biz. Our goal is for this class to be about the decision-making process that goes into designing an elegant circuit to achieve a specific goal. This is an advanced-beginner-to-intermediate level class and some soldering experience is definitely required. We’ll be picking apart the design and discussing how each part of the circuit serves the overall goal so the more theory you bring to the class the more you can take away. We’ll have an optional vacuum tube theory brush-up on the evening of the 20th. We have 8 spots available and the class will be at our shop in Portland, OR.
