Great news!
Happy update from Beaverton School District!!
We learned this week that all K-2 teachers will be receiving training in the area of phonemic awareness using Heggerty materials. K-2 teachers will also be receiving training in phonics using Secret Stories, and all K-2 staff will be attending a Supporting Students with Dyslexia session in June. Those who cannot attend will receive the training this Fall. In addition to that, the plan is to have Academic Coaches (previously called intervention teachers) begin the LETRS training this fall as a cohort (if approved in the budget). There will be 40 educators trained. They are also purchasing decodable books to be used by the academic coach with students in intervention. This is really exciting news and a great step forward!
