Oh, how our minds hate not knowing! It’s so human to fill in the gaps on a way that makes sense to us. But can we, just for a bit, ask the ego to take a break and allow ourselves to know that we don’t know everything? To be free of assumptions or our own point of view goes a looooong way in connecting with the world around us. Which, you know, can actually feel kind of nice!

Frustrated with the idea of mindfulness? Feeling done with how you’re *supposed* to be vs how you’re actually feeling? This might help… nurturelifecoaching.com/mindfulness-eye-roll/

I saw this image posted by the brilliant sharonsalzberg, and I find it to be so wise! When we deny our feelings or our wounds, or anything else inside of us, we tend to be haunted by exactly what we’re trying to avoid. If we can go toward that discomfort, however, and spend some time with it, we actually allow it to run it’s course. And if it’s too scary to dive in on your own… well, that’s where a trusted ally comes in. But don’t take my word for it! Give it a try and see what your experience is. I’ll be rooting for you!

I’ll use an inspirational quote when it’s really true. This one is true. It’s not about where you ”should” be, it’s about getting real with exactly where you are. It might be messy, it might be painful, but if it’s real, then it provides solid footing. And with solid footing, you can launch forward in the direction of your choosing. This is the work that I love.

Do you have a few minutes to get outside for a walk today? If so, I invite you to do it with happy intent. Leave your worries for a bit (I promise you they’ll still be there later!), walk around aimlessly, and see if you can spot anything beautiful or surprising. Who knows where a spot of joy might be lurking! And if you’re not able to get out today, here are a few happy surprises I came across, all in less than an hour. Gratitude to the folks in my neighborhood for planting these delights for others to enjoy!

I’m so touched by this sweet cartoon by Poorly Drawn Lines. What an incredible example of simple, vulnerable communication! Simple, yes… but easy? Hmm… Most of us need a lot of help to see through the turmoil of our emotions and into the heart beneath them. What an empowering thing to actually seek out that help!

How absolutely amazing that this place really exists! Koosah Falls on the McKenzie River. I hope this beauty provides an uplift in your day. May you be happy, and may you be filled with ease. May we all look after ourselves and each other with warmth and kindness. I wish you a wonderful day!

It’s the opposite of fixing, it’s the opposite of mansplaining, it’s simply allowing the feeling to exist until it passes. What a kindness, what a relief, to give up the fight against our own hearts!
