I’ve said before, replace constant question asking with comments and observations.
There is a time and place for asking kids questions! For one thing, sometimes we need to know an answer. What do you want to eat? Where should we ride your bike? Who should we draw?
When asking questions, we want children to have to language skills to actually be able to answer them, so we have to consider what their language skills are. And once in a while, asking questions that are a little above their language skills as a teaching opportunity.

🔑Slowing down and waiting for a child to initiate the communication interaction is key
🔑If we are over-responsive to their needs, we don’t give them a chance to communicate
🔑Give your little want a few seconds to see what they happens!

🥳An inside looks at what Speech-Language Pathologists hear when baby is babbling.
🤩Baby will start to make all sorts of consonant-vowel combinations or we hear they got a bit stuck and they are missing some.
🤪A common combination I work on with 3 year olds is CVC like mop, top, pop, hat etc.
😜They can be fun words to work on and they greatly impact intelligibility!

🥳An inside look at what a Speech-Language Pathologist hears when a baby is babbling!!
🤩Baby starts to babble with all sorts of consonant-vowel combinations. Or they get a bit stuck and we noticed they are missing one of the combinations. One of the common ones that I work on with three year olds is CVC. Like bop, pop, top, hop.
🤪They are fun to work on and they really improve overall intelligibility!

1️⃣Make sure you’re on the floor with your baby, or at the table with the high chair
2️⃣Stay in their field of vision so they can hear and see the sign
3️⃣Say the word verbally while you sign in
4️⃣Use signs that are in context and motivating to your child
5️⃣Use signs during naturalist routines and play

Using sign with babies should be easy and fun🎊
🔥No pressure way to jump start language skills, reduce frustrations, and create a meaningful bond with baby.
✨So many teachers and other babies will know the same signs!
🎉Empower baby with language from the start will increase their self esteem
🧠By learning with their hands, ears, and eyes, they development more advanced literacy skills!

One topic that is guaranteed to come up in meetings is a child’s ability to follow directions. So the team often questions how well can they understand the language? Or is this behavioral? So to work on following directions, the first step is to understand language! We can start when they’re babies 👶🏼

When it’s 90+ outside, it’s our chance to play in some water!
Right now we use bath time as a calming activity at night, but splashing around in the backyard can be fun time🤪☀️😎
I’m targeting lots of new vocabulary while Jerry gets a chance to experience it!

✨✨New idea✨✨
Make sure to choose your target words carefully, it should be a word your little one will benefit from using!
I’ve already posted a video and saved a story on my highlights, but this strategy is so good and works so well I wanted to make a post about it!
✨✨✨New language expansion strategy!!✨✨✨
FOCUSSED STIMULATION: picking target word(s) you want your child to learn and repeating a billion times a day across your routines!
This is an example of “up” but I’ll pick other words and do more videos! I like “up” because it’s a super functional word that will help Jerry get what he wants!
