A Lincoln High School English teacher once wrote on her chalkboard that the purpose of life is:

“to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate,
to have it make some difference that you have lived…”

To paraphrase Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Cards care.” There’s a long tradition at Lincoln of giving back to the community, and this year, more than ever, our community is in need. For the past twelve years, the Lincoln Alumni Food Drive has brought together students, parents, staff, and alumni to help Portland’s hungry—including Lincoln families in need—during the holidays.

Please join your fellow Cards in supporting this worthy cause and help us reach our fundraising goal of $15,000. Together we can ensure that hundreds of families throughout Portland have access to supplemental food this holiday season. Donate now—every dollar helps—and then reach out to a classmate and ask them to do the same. Let's see of we can get participation from every graduating class.

Will you be part of this amazing community and join fellow donors in supporting this year’s food drive? All funds go directly to purchasing food; there is no overhead.

Lincoln High School Alumni Association - 2023 Holiday Food Drive Donation Form

01/29/2023

Dear Friend of LHS,

Thank you for your generous contribution to the 9th annual Lincoln Food Drive! Although we were not able to physically pack boxes again this year, we were determined to help families in the Portland area with their food insecurity. We raised just over $10,000 which allowed us to distribute 500 gift cards to local organizations whose mission is the same as ours: feeding our community. None of this would have been possible without committed LHS students, parents, staff, and alumni.

We’re looking at making our 2023 food drive our most successful ever. Interested in joining the planning committee or in volunteering? Please get in touch with Brian Lamson at [email protected]. Our planning and fundraising efforts for this year will kick off soon; stay tuned for details and perhaps some surprises.

Thanks for your continued support and for showing once again that Cards care!

With warm wishes,
Lincoln Alumni Association
