Rick DeForrest calls his work "dysinformation" to show what it felt like growing up with dyslexia - the mix‑ups, the misunderstandings, the silence.

Rick grew up with dyslexia in a time when few people even knew what dyslexia was. No one talked about dyslexia. He didn’t even have the words for it himself.

Summer comes in waves. Parenting can too. 🌊

It’s easy to slip into correction mode — to focus on what needs fixing, teaching, reminding. But children don’t grow from constant critique…

They grow from connection.

Yes, they need guidance. Yes, they’ll make mistakes. But what they need most is to feel safe, seen, and deeply loved — especially in the moments they’re hardest to love.

Let your love be the anchor. Let it be what echoes louder than your frustration. 
Because long after the lecture is forgotten… They’ll remember how you made them feel.
