We’re embarking on a new school year, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead!

At BLI Community School Pinellas Park, we’re eager to support families looking for something different—a smaller school rooted in the community, where students are both challenged to grow and supported every step of the way. 💛

This year, learning will reach far beyond the classroom! We’re especially excited about:

🌱 Our partnership with Patti Johnson Farm, creating opportunities for hands-on, community-connected learning.

🐝 A special workshop with Seminole Bee Farm, giving our students the chance to learn about bees, nature, and the important role pollinators play in our world.

Did you know that one of the biggest misconceptions about dyslexia is that it means seeing letters backwards? It’s more complicated than that.

Our brains naturally recognize mirror images, which can be an advantage in everyday life. Reading, however, requires the brain to override that instinct and learn that b, d, p, and q represent different sounds and meanings.

Our teachers know that learning to read requires explicit, systematic teaching and lots of rehearsing to build the neural pathways needed for accurate letter recognition.

This makes structured literacy crucial. Understanding why these reversals happen helps us move away from misconceptions and toward effective instruction that supports all readers, especially students with dyslexia.

Giving students a choice in how they demonstrate learning is so important. When assessment includes more than just a grade, children can experience classrooms filled with creativity, engagement, and evidence of their learning.

At BLI Community School, our best days are family engagement events held at the end of each unit. Families and supporters get to see first hand what their children are learning and how they are learning it - in a way that best fits their learning style!

Every school has a founding belief.

Ours started with a bus, a handful of students, and a belief that every family should have access to high performing schools that put children and families first. What started as a a grassroots tutoring service has grown into a network of micro schools serving over 100 families. These families all want the same thing for their child: a challenging and meaningful curriculum that engages their child, a safe learning environment, and exceptional teachers.

Every day we're showing that small schools rooted in the community, with strong teaching and high expectations, can transform lives - not just in the classroom, but far beyond!
