AI seems to be giving one eight-year-old a great deal of confidence.
He recently asked his mum:
“Do you think I can become more knowledgeable than you?”
It is a bold question—but perhaps a very reasonable one for a generation growing up with instant access to AI-powered knowledge.
The moment inspired the latest article in our Humanity’s Last Unfair Advantage series: “The Weight of Judgement.”
As children gain access to more information than any previous generation, the role of parents and educators may begin to change. We may not always be the most knowledgeable person in the room, but we can still help children question what they encounter, weigh competing choices and use knowledge responsibly.
The real opportunity is not simply to help children know more. It is to help them go further with what they know.
