Good intentions are important. Listening is what gives them direction.

The people living with a challenge often understand its realities in ways outsiders cannot. They know what is missing, what has already been tried, and what their community may actually respond to.

We see that principle reflected across the organizations Odyssey Impact supports. Their work is shaped not only by a mission statement, but by conversations, lived experiences, and relationships with the people they serve.

For us, that is an important reminder about community work: solutions should not simply arrive in a community. They should be informed by it.

Sometimes the most valuable first step is not proposing an answer. It is making room to hear one.

This festival reflects the heart of Firefly World’s work: creating opportunities for young people to reconnect with themselves and with one another through experiences that meet them where they are.

On August 1, 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼’𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆, welcomed 2,700 guests to the 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 in Denver, creating a gathering built around something remarkably simple: sitting down together.

The event is part of Longer Tables’ broader 150 Tables Across Colorado initiative, supported by Odyssey Impact. From intimate neighborhood tables to gatherings of this scale, the initiative is creating opportunities for people across the state to meet, share space, and experience what can happen around a table.

The best community experiences are the ones people want to recreate themselves.

Longer Tables began with a simple practice: invite people to sit together, share a meal, and have conversations that might not happen anywhere else.

What makes their work especially interesting is what happens afterward. People from different beliefs and backgrounds have become part of the organization, while hosts are now taking what they experienced and setting tables of their own.

That is a powerful kind of growth. An experience does not simply attract participants. It gives people something they can carry back into their own communities.

Odyssey Impact is proud to support Longer Tables as that table continues to grow.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹.

For one organization, the answer may be helping grieving children and families feel supported. For another, it may be bringing generations together through acting, poetry, dance, and other creative arts. Elsewhere, it may mean offering a warm meal where people can gather without cost or questions.

Willow House, Broadway Inspirational Voices, and Canterbury House approach very different needs in very different ways. That diversity is worth paying attention to.

Community work is strongest when organizations are able to respond to the people in front of them rather than follow a single definition of what impact should look like.

At Odyssey Impact, we are grateful to learn from the many different approaches our grantees bring to this work.

Receiving a grant is a milestone, but it is not the finish line.

What interests us most is what happens afterward. Does a program reach the people it was designed for? Do new relationships form? Does an organization learn something that helps shape what comes next?

The updates we receive from grantees give us a window into that process. We have seen programs expand, participants form new groups, organizations enter new spaces, and communities find new reasons to gather.

Those updates matter because they turn funding into something tangible. They show us where an idea traveled after someone was given the opportunity to pursue it.

.online is bringing its Teen Festival to the Wende Museum in Culver City on October 2, 2026.

The evening will combine live music, real conversations, and a welcoming environment designed to help teens connect with themselves and with one another as they begin the school year.

As an Odyssey Impact grantee, Firefly World continues to turn support into experiences that give young people room to engage, reflect, and build meaningful connections.

We are excited to see this next chapter of their work come to life.

Sometimes the clearest measure of support is what people do with it.

Soapbox Project shared that its work generated 8,000 hours of community engagement on climate action and 2,000 volunteer hours.

Those numbers show something important: people did not simply hear about an issue. They chose to participate.

For Odyssey Impact, this is one of the outcomes we value most. Support can create an opening, but organizations and their communities determine what happens next.

We are proud to have supported and to see that opportunity translated into thousands of hours of participation.

People rarely connect with a program before they connect with the person behind it.

They believe in the founder who kept showing up. The volunteer who stayed committed.
The leader who understood the community because they were already part of it.

That human credibility matters. It tells us that the idea is not only thoughtful, but also carried by people who understand the responsibility of bringing it to life.

For Odyssey Impact, supporting an organization also means believing in the people who have already chosen to act.

The best funding does more than cover a cost.

It gives organizations the confidence to move forward, test an idea, reach new people, and build momentum that can continue beyond one grant cycle.

We have seen this through organizations that used support to expand programs, strengthen participation, and create opportunities that would have been difficult to pursue alone.

At Odyssey Impact, we believe funding should help good work move further, not simply keep it standing still.
