Summer at ISB comes full circle when our alumni return as interns and counselors. Alumni have the opportunity to re-immerse themselves in French and Spanish, while our youngest summer students benefit from learning alongside former ISB students. We loved welcoming these familiar faces this summer!

From historical discoveries to sunny days spent playing and creating together, Week 2 of ISB Summer was filled with curiosity and fun! Building on the interactive timeline we began last summer, we explored the story of the Dutch, the first European settlers of New Amsterdam in our “Who Lives Here?” theme. A special highlight was our visit to the New York Historical Society, where we explored the New Amsterdam exhibit and imagined what life was like in the 1600s.

Looking back at all the fun we had at ISB Summer this season! 🌞 During Week 1, our Flora & Fauna 🌿🐾 theme came to life with a special visit from wildlife rescuer Leslie Hyder, a wildlife rescuer who focuses on the often forgotten creatures such as raccoons, opossums, and skunks. She brought all of these animals and more to campus, and the children were enthralled learning about these important animals that often get an undeserved bad reputation.

Before the World Cup Final kicks off this weekend 🇪🇸🇦🇷, we’re reminiscing about our alumni watch party from last month. We loved reconnecting with familiar faces (including three of ISB’s very first students, pictured here!) and coming together over a shared love of fútbol. ⚽️

During our first Dragons Athletics Awards Banquet this spring, we were honored to welcome back ISB Alum Leena Friedman ‘21 as the evening’s featured guest speaker. 🎾⭐️🌎

Currently a student at Yale University and a star tennis player on the International Tennis Federation Junior Tennis Circuit, Leena spoke fondly of her time at ISB. In her speech, she highlighted the “leg up” that Spanish and French have given her in life and on the tennis tour, where speaking her languages helped her connect with fans, partners, and coaches across the globe. She also shared that “I would not be where I am today with the path ISB put me on.”

Before we fully settle into summer here at ISB, we’re sharing some of the joy that wrapped up the school year! 🌞

We did this together. 💙

In celebration of ISB’s 20th anniversary year, our community came together in an extraordinary way, raising $422,555 for the 20² Fund for Excellence — the most successful annual fund in ISB history.

This achievement belongs to our entire community: families, faculty, staff, grandparents, alumni, trustees, and friends who believe in ISB and the experiences that make our school so special.

Thank you for investing in our students.
Thank you for supporting our teachers.
Thank you for believing in ISB.

What a way to celebrate 20 years. 💙

The Spanish Ministry of Education held their second annual ISA Theater Festival, and ISB had to join the fun and add our creativity and acting chops to the mix 🎭🇪🇸 Our 5th Graders led a trio of performances with “La batalla de las palabras,” a rap battle that doubled as a lesson in phonetics! Then our 4th and 5th Graders sang a beautiful rendition of “Luna de candela,” accompanied by a charming recording made by Spanish Pre-K 4. Finally, the 4th Grade put on a stunning puppet show that told the legend of “Las manchas del sapo,” a fun and very funny origin story of sorts!
