Reading isn’t just about finishing the book - it’s about understanding it. A reading journal helps students slow down, think deeper, and actually remember what they read.

Motivation comes and goes, so stop searching for it.
Trying to look for ways to motivate your students or children will only lead to burnout, requiring you to constantly think of ways to get your child to do things. It also changes and fades quickly as the child’s interests and feelings fluctuate. Instead,focus on fostering good habits in your kids and you teach them that their desired outcomes are a result of their own daily choices, and not their emotion-based state of mind. Start small, like reading for 10 minutes in the same place and same time. Have them keep a tracker. That's how they learn to be proud of themselves.
