Lisa studied at New York University in the School of Educational Theatre, as well as the Tisch School for the Performing Arts. At NYU, her focuses were performance, educational theatre, as well as screen writing and film production.
As an educator of the arts, Lisa formerly taught at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and also taught independent acting workshops at the Actor’s Loft in the Village. She created children’s workshops, produced and wrote plays for KAPOW! Kid Actor’s Performance Workshops in New York City.
Today, Lisa teaches actors privately and in classes in New York City and South Jersey, providing training and industry connections, as well as guidance with casting opportunities, and on-set experiences. Lisa works closely with NYC Industry professionals, who often contact Lisa for her actors when casting their film projects. Lisa prides herself on guiding her students' work to what is natural, believable and human. Lisa’s students can be seen in numerous national commercial campaigns, feature films and television series. Lisa’s coaching was also featured on BRAVO’s hit series "The Real Housewives of NJ," as she coached Theresa’s daughter Gia for a major motion picture audition.
As a professional of the arts, Lisa is committed to creating projects from concept, writing, directing and producing that shed light on the stories that often go unheard. In 2001, she wrote, directed and produced an educational film, Kenny, which won the Manhattan Global Film Festival and a Humanitarian Award. Kenny is an educational project focused on the rare skin disease Ichthyosis and was distributed by the National Film Network. Kenny was selected as an entrant in the 2009 Long Island International Film Festival.
In 2007, Lisa wrote, directed and produced an educational stage performance, A Write to Heal. The performance was an extension of Lisa’s non-profit organization, A Write to Heal, Inc. As the program’s founder and director, Lisa continues to educate others through writing, performance and filmmaking. The show premiered at the Culture Project in NYC and throughout communities in New Jersey. The performance is a collection of monologues, poems and music emerging from the true stories of women who have been victims of domestic violence.
Herself a survivor, Lisa now educates others and is collaborating with various domestic violence programs to introduce A Write to Heal throughout the country. A Write to Heal, is a credited course for The New Jersey Coalition for Battered Women. The YWCA has recognized Lisa’s advocacy work and invites her to speak out and perform at YWCA events throughout the country.
