🇵🇷 In honor of Latine Heritage Month, we salute one of our namesakes: Bobbito García Bobbito García aka Kool Bob Love ! 🎧🏀

A hip-hop radio pioneer, DJ, author, filmmaker, sneaker historian, basketball player, and proud Nuyorican, Bobbito García has spent decades celebrating the music, stories, style, and culture of New York City.

And last week, our Bronx Arts Elementary kiddos celebrated him the best way they know how. ❤️

During Community Meeting, they wished Bobbito a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY…and then somebody turned up the music. 🎶

You already know what happened next.

A full-on Bronx Arts dance party broke out! 😂🔥💃🏽🕺🏽

Because sometimes celebrating our history and our culture looks like learning the stories of the people who helped shape it.

And sometimes…it looks like DANCING.

Happy Birthday, Bobbito! Thank you for giving generations of New Yorkers a soundtrack, a platform, and a whole lot of inspiration.

(PS Head over to our story to catch him rocking his Bronx Arts hoodie!)

. . . . . 🇵🇷🎧🏀❤️

Special thanks are due to our visiting members of the Navy, Air Force, and Army (including our own Coach Shields); to Ms. Millicent Matos, of the Bronx Borough President’s Office; and to the incredible Ms. Gloria Ortiz, a true advocate for our community, for making this special day possible.

Our robotics team visited ServiceNow for a panel and round table discussion with women in STEM fields.

A huge thanks to our friends at The Community Bots for making this visit possible; and to panelists Bianca Liriano, Maribel Sabino, and Tanvi Syed for sharing their stories, encouraging our young ladies to pursue their passions, and reminding us that your path through life doesn’t have to be linear to be ‘right’.
