Measurement: is the process of applying a label to a naturally occurring event. There are three parts to the process of measurement in ABA, identify the behavior to be measured, define the behavior and select the appropriate data collection method.

Within these three ways to measure behavior there are a variety of methods to use!

Event recording: A method for measuring the number of times a behavior occurs that includes frequency, rate, and celeration.

Timing: A continuous measurement procedure that involves observing when and for how long a behavior occurs in real time.

Time sampling: A discontinuous measurement procedure in which not all instances of a response/behavior are able to be recorded.
