Health Psychology and Clinical Science - CUNY Health Psychology and Clinical Science (HPCS) is a Ph.D. training area at the Graduate Center, City

HPCS is an innovative training area that provides a thorough grounding in both health psychology and clinical science. Doctoral students will learn current theoretical perspectives as well as the conduct and evaluation of scientific research methods and prevention and intervention trials across diverse populations. What sets this program apart from others is a true commitment to the interaction between physical and mental health, a focus on health disparities and the influence of the sociocultural context as well as the advancement of health equity from a biopsychosocial perspective. Unlike other clinical health psychology programs, this one focuses not on clinical practice within the medical context, but on research that integrates theories and methods from both subdisciplines.

Congrats to HPCS student Irina Mindlis for being awarded the Multimorbidities and Multiple Health Behavior Change SIG’s Outstanding Abstract Award for her poster based on her dissertation work, “Identifying Disease and Treatment-related Factors Associated with Illness Intrusiveness in Older Adults with Multimorbidity”.

Irina will be presenting this poster at the Society for Behavioral Medicine’s conference on April 7th from 5-5:50pm. Congrats again Irina!!
