Swipe through as our 6th Grade students gathered for CSA's first Juneteenth Picnic at Riverbank State Park- a day centered on community, cultural pride, and the power of youth voices.

Through storytelling, food, games, and shared experiences, we honored the history and significance of Juneteenth.

Students gathered in community as members of H.O.L.L.A! (How Our Loves Link AlTogether) guided us through powerful stories of the African diaspora, resilience, freedom, and the importance of honoring those who came before us.

A special thank you to H.O.L.L.A! for creating a meaningful experience that reminded our students that history isn't just something we learn; it's something we carry, share, and continue to write together.

Ms. Bazille and the 6th Grade Team helped bring CSA's first Juneteenth Picnic to life. Special thanks to our Teachers!

It takes a village.

A special thank you to our 6th Grade families for your support, generosity, fundraising efforts, food, games, and community spirit. CSA's first Juneteenth Picnic was made even more meaningful because of you.

Massive congrats to the 52 (!!!) performers at our 10th annual CSA piano recital last week! The crowd was dazzled by their beautiful artistry and depth of feeling—made even more impressive given that most performers had never touched a piano before coming to CSA. This year’s recital also boasted a record number of 6th graders—these first-year CSA piano students represented over half the program! We are so proud of everyone who performed! šŸŽ¹ šŸ™Œ

Yesterday, NYC Charter School of the Arts joined Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal, Council Member Harvey Epstein, and Assembly Member Grace Lee, along with TeachRock and the Hendrix family, as West 8th Street was officially renamed Jimi Hendrix Way!

CSA Executive Director Andrea d’Amato spoke on the power of arts-integrated education — the work TeachRock champions nationwide and the foundation of CSA’s mission — to use music and the arts to help young people discover their voices, connect with the world around them, and grow into the next generation of creators and changemakers.Ā

Earlier this year, our students studied Hendrix’s life and music through TeachRock’s curriculum — so celebrating his legacy on the street that now carries his name made the moment their own. A day of bright smiles, signed guitars, and boundless inspiration! šŸŽøšŸ¤˜ āš”ļø

This Thursday we celebrate CSA’s 10th annual piano recital! This event marks the culmination of a year of foundational study for our 6th grade Core Arts pianists as well as intensive preparation in our 7th and 8th grade Piano Ensembles.

All CSA community members and alumni are welcome to attend—if you don’t have a student performing, please DM us to RSVP so we can confirm seating capacity—and we’ll be live streaming here and on Facebook as well! You can also check out archived performances on our YouTube piano Chanel (link in bio).
