"To stand for the cause of justice and liberation for Palestinians, especially in the midst of Western and US Christianity, means not only standing for the humanity of Palestinians but also calling out the colonial oppressive nature of Israel and the fact that it is US money and political support that enables this injustice. It also means challenging ideologies and theologies of supremacy, racism, and entitlement and daring to call zionism and Christian zionism for what they truly are: racist and colonial ideologies.

"The journey of my good friend Don Wagner is an embodiment of the principle of costly solidarity. Wagner is not the only one, but he was certainly among the first who challenged Christian zionism from within. And as his journey clearly reveals, Wagner's stances for justice and challenging the logic of the empire and the theology of Christian zionism did not come without a cost. There was a price to pay. There was a risk to take. Travels to Palestine and Lebanon in times of war and massacres. Wagner's solidarity was a solidarity of presence and courage. It was a costly solidarity."
