This UNICEF report is trending right now, and it deserves a very close look because its data directly contradicts the UN’s previous declaration of famine in Gaza.

About a year ago, the UN declared famine in Gaza, fueling a global narrative of mass starvation, genocide, and accusations that Israel was committing serious human rights violations.

Now, UNICEF’s own data reports acute child malnutrition at just 0.5%! This is far below the global average and among the lowest rates in the region.

That’s not a minor discrepancy. It directly challenges the claims that shaped the world’s perception of Gaza, and the accusations against Israel that followed.

And when the new data came out, the IPC briefly removed its previous famine claims from its website, only restoring them after reporters asked questions. UNICEF called it an “inadvertent error.”

So where’s the accountability?

💡There's a larger lesson here. Don’t just blindly accept a headline or any institution's narrative. Look at the data. Ask questions. Do your own research. Always be willing to question the agenda behind the information you’re being given.

On Thursday, August 13th, our students had the opportunity to tour Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There, they met with members of the diplomatic core and learned how the art of diplomacy is done in and around Israel.🇮🇱

Additionally, they were able to tour the facility and see the history of Israel through the items gifted from around the world. Most notably, the pen used by President Truman when the United States recognized Israel in 1948.🖊️✨

Another day of exploring Israel's history, geography, and deep connection to the land. 🇮🇱✨ Here's what our fellows experienced yesterday, Wednesday, August 12th:

🏰 Herodian: Explored Herodian National Park; the desert fortress and palace built by King Herod, as well as his burial site.

🌱 Givat Eitam: Visited a farm in the Judean Desert and learned about agriculture and community in the region.

🍽️ Efrat: We stopped for lunch before continuing south toward Hebron.

🕍 Ma'arat HaMachpela: Our fellows had the unique opportunity to experience the entire site of Ma'arat HamMachpela, rather than being limited to the Jewish entrance—an experience available only 1 out of 10 days. They explored the sacred site where the Jewish tradition holds that our Patriarchs and Matriarchs are buried.

Hebron & Its Connection to Us: Heard from Simcha Hochbaum about Hebron's history and its deep connection to the Jewish people.

🌄 Neve Daniel: Ended the day with a strategic overlook and a discussion on the significance of the land stretching from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

From ancient history to the realities of today, our fellows continue to explore the land, stories, and connections that shape Israel. 🇮🇱💙
