IWC invites you to join Claire Dawson, head of marketing and communications at Château de La Rivière, and Mary Gorman-McAdams, MW, IWC instructor and Bordeaux specialist, for a focused tasting exploring the wines of Château de La Rivière, one of Fronsac’s most historic estates. Set against the appellation’s limestone plateau overlooking the Dordogne, the estate has become a leading reference for the modern expression of this historic Right Bank terroir.

Through a guided tasting across multiple vintages (2010, 2015, 2018 and 2020), as well as Château de La Rivière Blanc 2023 and the newest Cuvée, a traditional method sparkling wine, Château de La Rivière Blanc de Noirs, aged 29 months on the lees, will examine the relationship between the terroir, vineyard practices and winemaking at La Rivière, and how these shape the character and ageability of the wines.

We will also explore the individuality and distinctiveness of Fronsac within the greater Right Bank, the roles of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, as well as what’s new and changing in the region – especially regarding dry white and sparkling wines, and why Fronsac continues to attract renewed attention from the trade.
