Both a tornado watch and flash flood warning have been issued for the NYC metropolitan area due to today’s storm. While a tornado is highly unlikely at the moment, it’s still possible — the watch is in effect until 9pm Tuesday. Please take caution and stay indoors if possible. NYU’s Department of Campus Safety will keep you updated with the latest news about the storm via our Safe NYU app. Stay safe, NYU!

NYC’s about to get hot — like, actually dangerous hot. 🌆 An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by National Weather Service, beginning today (July 1) at noon and currently running through 9PM Friday.

A few ways to protect yourself: hydrate before you’re thirsty, skip the strenuous workouts outside, and know where to cool off. Bobst is open 24/7 and runs on backup power, so it’s a solid bet even if the grid takes a hit. Make sure NYU Alerts and Safe NYU are set up on your phone (check your info in Albert too), and if you live off campus, sign up for Notify NYC for citywide updates.

Heat emergency? Call 911. Questions or need help? Reach out to the DCS Communication Center at (212) 998-2222. Stay smart, stay cool, Violets! 💜
