We’re looking for warm, energetic, and reliable teachers or camp counselors who love working with children.

Ideal candidates:
• Speak Mandarin and English
• Enjoy storytelling, games, arts & crafts, and interactive learning
• Have experience with kids through teaching, camps, after-school programs, or childcare
• Can help create a fun and engaging Chinese immersion environment

This week our teacher Sissi was teaching live all the way from her hometown - Harbin, Heilongjiang, in China’s beautiful northeast.

Instead of just learning from a textbook, our students got a delicious “field trip” into real Chinese life:

🍲 Northeastern Iron-Pot Stew (东北铁锅炖)
Sissi introduced one of Harbin’s most famous comfort foods – a big iron pot simmering with meat, vegetables, and rich broth, perfect for cold winter days. Students learned new food vocabulary and also how people in the Northeast talk about eating and sharing meals together.

🧡 Cute Nicknames for Southern Tourists
Sissi also taught the class how people in Harbin affectionately call visitors from southern China “little potatoes from the South” (南方小土豆) and “little golden beans from the South” (南方小金豆) – a fun, friendly way to welcome guests and show warmth.

🚗 A 7-Seater BYD Car
To connect language with modern life, Sissi even introduced a 7-seat BYD car – talking about family trips, travel, and how Chinese families get around in daily life.

The students were engaged, laughing, and speaking lots of Chinese, and Sissi was teaching with so much energy and passion.

While most people use their vacation to switch off from work, our amazing teacher Sissi is doing something a little different.

Right now, Sissi is traveling in Beijing, China – exploring historic hutongs, visiting famous landmarks, tasting local food, and experiencing everyday life in the capital. But she hasn’t paused her teaching. Instead, she is bringing real-life China straight into our classrooms in New York through live online lessons.

During her trip, Sissi has been:

* Sharing stories and photos from Beijing’s streets, markets, and landmarks.
* Teaching students how **local people really speak Chinese** in daily life.
* Introducing cultural topics such as food, festivals, history, and modern city life.
* Answering students’ questions *live* about what they see in China today.
