The American Dream School A dual-language (Spanish) school, grades 6-12, that cultivates a welcoming, encouraging environment for ELLs and immigrant students in the South Bronx.

ADS is a dual-language (Spanish) charter middle school that cultivates a welcoming, encouraging environment for English language learners and immigrant students in the South Bronx. The majority of our scholars come from Spanish-isolated homes, meaning the only language spoken at home is Spanish. About 90% of our scholars' parents are immigrants, which is the key to helping our scholars preserve and develop their own cultural identity and sense of self. We are able to use our students' cultural experience as a driving force in our curriculum. We work to have an environment that resembles that of a "village" or "familia" where scholars, teachers, families, and the community are active participants in the academic life of the school. Through our dual-language program, we strive to maintain the scholars' native language and develop their English language skills as it is proven to accelerate language learning. We also strongly believe that through Project-Based Learning, our students are able to create projects that resemble real-life situations while hitting on the core standards required for success in high school, college and beyond. We believe strongly that scholars learn by doing.

HBO, JAY-Z, and an unforgettable Sunday for our students! 🎬✨

Students from ADS Bronx and ADS Manhattan joined The Bronx Defenders for the HBO JAY-Z documentary premiere, made possible by the Shawn Carter Foundation. Our students showed up dressed for the occasion, enjoyed an incredible experience, and represented our schools beautifully.

A huge shout-out to Christopher Garcia, Director of Youth and Community Engagement at The Bronx Defenders, for inviting us and making this opportunity possible for our students.

Apparently, 5:00 a.m. attendance is possible when the sunrise is involved. 😂🌅

Today was a long day, but sharing Senior Sunrise with our students and colleagues made every sleepy minute worth it. Watching the sun come up together was more than a beautiful view. It was a moment of connection, celebration, and memories we’ll carry long after senior year ends.

What a beautiful way to begin their final chapter. 🎓✨
