There’s a reason why we only hear about the people that meet their on and get married OR the date where the guy showed up 30 minutes late, 20 years older than his pics, and talked about his antique hatchet collection for 45 minutes... Because those are the most fun to hear about!! Would you want to hear about the so-so date where you both shook hands amicably and went home and watched ?
Not all online dating is dramatic and crazy. It’s just all we hear about. There were plenty of times I met someone great, there were no sparks, and we became friends. And lots of my clients have these experiences too. So if the “online dating is too crazy” mantra keeps going through your head, please don’t let that hold you back. There are people out there just like you!

Are you being intentional about online dating? Or are you half heartedly checking your dating app once in a while? Sure, you might have a decent date here and there if you’re dabbling. But it’s unlikely you will feel satisfied with online dating doing it that way. You need to put yourself out there. And it can feel terrifying. And it’s much easier to just say online dating “doesn’t work.”

So a lot of people are FaceTime dating right now... and a lot of people are NOT. The majority of people I know who are video dating are under 40. And the majority of people who aren’t doing it, are older and not comfortable with it yet. Most of them say they don’t like video calls, they feel self conscious, they would rather wait until they can meet in person, etc etc.
This photo was taken 3 years ago, soon after I met my now boyfriend, when I was new to FaceTime calls and I had never done a video call with a guy I was dating before. The first time suggested it, I think I made up some excuse why I couldn’t. I felt super weird about it and he pretty much laughed about how awkward I was 🤪🤓
I kinda had to get used to it quickly because he traveled so much. This is my long way of saying: just do it. You’ll get used to it. Change is good💪🏼😎
