The Kodály Summer Institute will be conducted remotely for Summer 2020. The NYU Steinhardt Kodály Summer Institute is open to students as a non credit summer course. Students may also take the course for 3 graduate credits. Students who enroll in the summer master's degree program may take all three levels of the NYU Steinhardt Kodály Summer Institute toward fulfillment of degree requirements, ending with both a master's degree in Music Education and Kodály certification.The Kodály Summer Institute is endorsed by the Organization of American Kodály Educators.

The Kodály Summer Institute serves both graduate musicians-educators and those who have worked in the field—all who would like to enrich their skills in creating curriculum and delivering pedagogy in a Kodály-inspired music classroom. Participants experience and collect traditional (folk) materials that can be sequenced with the intention of leading their young music makers toward the goals of music literacy and musical understanding. There are 11 subject areas and please look on line for the list of the course work.
Special One-Week Course: Kodály Musicianship Workshop with Dr. László Nemes, Director of the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy in Budapest, Hungary. Dr. Nemes offers one week of training in Kodály solfege and pedagogy. Classes meet two hours every morning, Participants will experience new and effective ideas and practices in the teaching and learning of music. (This course is included in the three-week Kodály Summer Institute.)
Dates: Monday through Friday, July 13–17, 2020; 8:30–10:30 a.m. daily.

Lower School Music Teacher - Family Leave Replacement
Packer Collegiate Institute
We are seeking a warm, passionate and experienced general and vocal music teacher to fill a Family Leave Replacement from early December to early May in our Lower School Music Program. This is a full-time position which includes teaching First Grade through Fourth Grade General Music.
Description:
Will implement curriculum to 1st - 4th Grade General Music classes that are grounded in the Kodály Methodology and features a recorder program in the 3rd and 4th grade general music class.
Musically prepare and rehearse LS students for an upcoming Arts Festival in May (repertoire will be provided)
Attend weekly after school Lower School Division and Arts Department faculty meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music in Music, Music Education or Performance
A Master’s degree or another advanced degree is preferable.
Have at least three years experience teaching general and vocal music to elementary school children
Experience using the Kodály Methodology, Full Certification or at least Level I Kodály training highly preferred
An ideal candidate must also demonstrate a warm and enthusiastic personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
