Jill Platner Sterling silver and 19k gold fine jewelry handcrafted by artisans at our NYC studio since 1993. Jill received her BFA from Parsons School of Design, N.Y.

Jill Platner has been making jewelry and sculpture in NYC since 1993. The forests, fields and streams of Massachusetts and Maine provided childhood playgrounds, and later, inspiration for her metal work, which is grounded in the natural world. and started selling her jewelry immediately - sometimes straight off her body while walking the streets of New York. The original Jill Platner store opened in 1998 at 113 Crosby Street. The store and studio now reside under the same historic roof at 165 Crosby, where Jill and her team continue to fabricate and showcase her jewelry and sculpture.

Cascade - a gallery piece from Jill’s 2007 BLACKWELL collection. The BLACKWELL collection was named after the Blackwell sister who were the first two women to earn medical degrees in the United States. In 1857, they founded the New York Infirmary for Women and Children in the building that now houses our studio and showroom.

The double cuff has a long history. Across cultures and centuries, wearing bracelets on both wrists has been associated with balance, protection, ceremony, status, and strength.

In the Indus Valley, roughly 2500–1900 BCE, bangles were worn in multiples. From the medieval period onward, paired bracelets became part of ceremonial and marital dress across India and the Middle East.

Centuries later, Olive Byrne’s signature silver cuffs helped inspire Wonder Woman’s bracelets, introduced with the character in 1941 as symbols of power and protection. Gloria Steinem, who famously wore a double cuff herself, brought the form into the feminist visual language of the 1970s.

Today, the double cuff still reads as balanced, strong, protective, and defiant.

A true miracle! With about a minute of daylight left, 70 sculptures to ship out the next morning, and the famously difficult task of patination to complete, Jill, Miki, and Bob finished The Protector sculpture. They had to jump for joy, literally. Come see this miraculous sculpture - on view now at LongHouse in East Hampton, NY.
