The Surfrider Foundation’s annual One Ocean Gala is this Saturday, August 10th: Through an incredible activist network, and critical funds collected during the gala, the foundation fights for plastic reduction, ocean protection, beach access, maintenance of natural shorelines, and clean water.

A couple weekends ago we got someone of our people over to the store to show off their jewels and have their portrait taken! As our photographer Olivia says, “somehow Jill Platner has attracted some of the coolest people—specifically the coolest women—I’ve ever met. They’re badasses. Tough lovers-of beautiful-things.”

Picture this: there is a small blue house by a bay that you’ve managed to escape to. During the day, the sun is warm and illuminating. In the evening the light is metallic, and the water stays warm. Dinner is almost ready, and you spend the twenty minutes before you are needed at the beach. The tide is low, and all the sand’s treasures are visible, including the beach stones. They glimmer up at you: rich, soft, and sturdy. The stones are evidence of past eras well spent. A few stand out to you. Maybe it’s their shapes, or the colors, or the way they are speckled with sediment. You put them all in your pocket, holding your hand to them—feeling safe and at home—as you make your way up to dinner.

Our motorcycle man and trusty model came by yesterday to add a very very special charm to his 20 year old necklace: a hand picked beach stone wrapped in sterling silver by the one and only Jill Platner. Yes, jealousy is the correct emotion. 🛵💗⭐️ Some jewelry is protective, and this one just got a JP shield.

A week ago today we hosted the brilliant team at for a science class on the inner workings of a first-of-its-kind women’s health supplement. It was clear from the moment we met the scientists, entrepreneurs, and creative design team at Seed that they embodied a niche that we do too: the intersectionality between climate awareness, medicine, female leadership, design, quality, and intentionality.

As founder Ara Katz and her team have moved us a step forwards in the epic, and begrudging, history of women’s health and wellness, so did doctor Elizabeth Blackwell—a former resident of our building. In 1857, on the corner of Bleecker and Crosby, Blackwell opened her infirmary for women and children. 167 years later, the building is nationally recognized, full of incredible women artists (and now scientists!), and kept standing by our very own Jill Platner.

To honor the event and its attendees, we created a custom Cowry necklace on an emerald green cord (Seed’s color), and invited author to sign copies of her incredible biography on the first female physicians (Elizabeth and her sister Emily).

It is a joy to work in a space so rich, in a city so incredible, and with people dedicated to the good things. Our store is open 7 days a week, if ever you would like to come chat about the history, or be hugged by its loving walls. Cheers! ⭐️
