Call for Participants: The Moth Storytelling Workshop on Caregiving at CUNY
http://writersinstitute.gc.cuny.edu The Writers’ Institute offers a one-year intensive course of instruction capped by a certificate.
For our fiction program, the course load consists of four evening workshops, two per semester, with editors from, among other places, Farrar, Straus & Giroux, The New Yorker, Granta, and The Paris Review. For our nonfiction program, the course load also consists of four evening workshops, two per semester, with editors from The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal.

Join Humanities New York Thu, Oct 12 for "The Public Humanities Fellowship Showcase" at The Graduate Center, CUNY with The Center for the Humanities.
Six former Fellows will discuss the projects they've created under the program, such as a walking tour of historic Byrdcliffe, philosophy classes for the incarcerated, a website teaching and preserving the Seneca language, and taking the first steps towards establishing a museum in Kingston, NY. The Showcase will provide a view into current developments in the public humanities and demonstrate the vital role the humanities play in our communities, today and in the future.

Call for Participants: Free Writing Workshop with Bushra Rehman, "Two Truths and a Lie: Writing Memoir and Autobiographical Fiction"
Application Deadline: Tuesday, August 15th, 2017.
Eligibility: students, faculty, and staff of all CUNY (The City University of New York) schools & College and Community Fellowship.
The Center for the Humanities at The Graduate Center, CUNY in collaboration with the Asian American Writers' Workshop is pleased to announce a free 8-week course, Bushra Rehman's "Two Truths and a Lie: Writing Memoir and Autobiographical Fiction." The course will teach students the craft of writing memoir, as well as elements of autoethnography – a form of writing the self that locates personal experience within the larger forces of culture and society. Writing exercises and techniques will be used to help explore themes including race, education, caregiving, loss, social inequality and social justice. Every writer will have the opportunity to workshop one original piece. All levels of writers are welcome.
