Last week in two classes I teach, we looked at Cezanne’s watercolor sketches of the woods. 🌿🌳🪵

This morning over coffee ☕️ and 15 minutes, I played with the minimalistic approach.

Quick tips and techniques to try:
1- I’m a lefty and injured my left thumb. I drew with my right hand (thank you, Mally, for the inspiration!).
2- Less is more. How little can I include to express the essence of the woods? No need to include every branch.
3- Let the white paper/canvas and some pencil lines show through. Paint around the trees or outline them with a thin brush.
4- Enjoy the process (process, not product).
