Our milestones almost 12 months later. Rebuilding for the future. 🇯🇲💚💛

In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, the American Friends of Jamaica has remained committed to helping communities across Jamaica rebuild, recover, and move forward.

Together with our partners and supporters, that commitment is translating into meaningful progress:

🏠 721 homes reroofed, helping families return to safer, hurricane-resistant homes.
🌱 1,519 farmers supported with gift cards, helping restore livelihoods and strengthen local communities.
📚 31 schools supported with temporary classrooms, helping keep education moving while communities recover.

Recovery is more than rebuilding structures. It is about restoring homes, livelihoods, learning, and a sense of security for communities across Jamaica.

Today marks Day 1 of AFJ’s 2026 Oral Health Initiative! Over the coming weeks, we’ll be visiting schools across Jamaica to provide children with free dental screenings, education, and preventative care 🇯🇲

We’re also thrilled to welcome Seaford Town Primary & Infant School to this year’s initiative on Monday, September 28.

Thank you to our collaborators Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® and Cari-Med Group Limited for their continued partnership and support in helping us bring healthier smiles to children across Jamaica year after year.
