A behaviour plan can be well written, evidence based, and thoughtfully designed and still fail.

Why? Because plans do not work in isolation. They rely on aligned systems, consistent implementation, and team wide support.

When one student experiences different expectations across different environments, the plan is no longer the issue. The system is.

A plan is only as strong as the system around it.

What are your thoughts on building stronger systems of support in schools?

Last nightโ€™s PTNJ Speaker Series with Dr. Andy Bondy, PhD was phenomenal.

Andyโ€™s presentation on gradualism was insightful, engaging, and filled with practical concepts that immediately resonated with educators, behavior analysts, therapists, and school teams alike.

What made the evening so impactful was not just the content itself, but the way complex behavioral principles were translated into meaningful, applicable ideas that professionals can carry directly into practice.

The feedback we received following the presentation was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees describing the session as thought-provoking, energizing, and incredibly valuable.

We are sincerely honored to have welcomed such an influential voice in the field to our speaker series.

Thank you, Dr. Bondy, for sharing your expertise, perspective, and passion with our community. We are deeply appreciative of your time and contribution.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Andy Bondy to the PTNJ Speaker Series!

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking presentation as Dr. Bondy breaks down the concept of Gradualism โ€” the small, intentional shifts that create meaningful and lasting learning over time.

As behavior analysts and educators, we use strategies like prompting, shaping, reinforcement, and errorless teaching every day โ€” but many teams struggle to see how these concepts truly connect in practice. This presentation will simplify those connections in a way that is practical, powerful, and immediately applicable.

Meet Kelsey Tavares! PTNJ Senior Advisor for Behavior Analytic Development and a spectacular BCBA who brings both heart and expertise to everything she does.

She knew she wanted to be a teacher as early as second gradeโ€”coming home and โ€œplaying school,โ€ with her brothers as her very first (and probably very patient) students. In third grade, she had a teacher who truly inspired her and helped shape the path sheโ€™s on todayโ€”where she also happened to meet her future husband!

After attending James Madison University and exploring education in other parts of the world, including Nicaragua, she landed her dream job in special education. Thatโ€™s where everything clicked. She met a BCBA who completely changed her life, and from that moment on, she was all inโ€”falling in love with ABA and working hard to earn those F.O.U.R. letters after her name.

She now specializes in working with students in ERI, PSD, and ASD programs, and is known for her ability to connect, support, and make a real impact in classrooms.

When sheโ€™s not in classrooms or supporting the PTNJ staff, sheโ€™s home with her two young kids, seeing the world through their eyesโ€”and chances are, sheโ€™s got a coffee in hand wherever she goes!

She truly loves what she doesโ€”and it shows!

We use these strategies every dayโ€ฆ

Prompting. Shaping. Errorless teaching. Reinforcement.

But hereโ€™s the problemโ€”
most teams donโ€™t see how they actually connect.

And when that happens?

Inconsistent implementation.
Different interpretations.
Slower progress than it should be.

Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m excited for our next PTNJ Speaker Series with Dr. Andy Bondy.

Heโ€™s breaking down a concept that simplifies all of it:

Gradualism.

Small, intentional changes over time that lead to real learning.

Simpleโ€”but powerful.

The difference isnโ€™t the student.
Itโ€™s the system.

In reactive classrooms, teachers do all the work.
In strong systems, the system does the work.

Thatโ€™s where everything changes.

๐Ÿ‘‡ What systems are working in your school right now?

Really grateful for this team! This is Carlos, one of our fabulous behavior analysts at PTNJ working with the team to solve problems.

Our BCBAs donโ€™t work in silos.
They work togetherโ€”talking through challenges, building ideas, and figuring out whatโ€™s actually going to work in real classrooms.

No one trying to have all the answers.
Just a team that supports each other and shows up.

And that makes all the difference.

๐Ÿ’ฌ How does your team collaborate?

Theyโ€™re struggling because the ๐˜ด๐˜บ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ isnโ€™t doing enough of the work.

We see it every dayโ€”educators working tirelessly, yet stuck in reactive cycles:
โžก๏ธ referrals
โžก๏ธ behavior plans
โžก๏ธ constant problem-solving

But real change doesnโ€™t come from managing behaviorโ€ฆ
It comes from

When the system shifts:
โœ”๏ธ behavior improves

โœ”๏ธ classrooms become predictable, positive, and effective
