Join the LGBTQ+ Resource Center tomorrow for our monthly book club! We will be meeting tomorrow, Thursday, September 17th from 12:30pm to 2pm in Room 219 of the Student Center.

This month we are reading "Roaming" by Jilian and Mariko Tamaki. Make sure to bring your copy of the book to reference throughout our discussion. 

We host our Book Club in partnership with the Women and Gender Studies program every third Thursday of the month so if you can't get enough of this meeting, don't worry, there will be more!

Our October book has arrived, we will be reading The Out Side by The Kao. You can pick up a copy tomorrow if you would like!

RSVP by August 29th to celebrate of the life of the Stonewall veteran and leading transgender activist, and Brooklyn College alum, Victoria Cruz.  
  
Cruz dedicated her life to fighting for queer and trans rights through the activist roots she planted in Brooklyn, directly advocating for our community and leading change; her work did not go unnoticed by her peers or the community at large.   
  
Come celebrate what would have been her 80th birthday on Saturday, September 19th from 12:00-4:00, at Riis Beach in Queens. RSVP by emailing [email protected].

Last week Brooklyn College Professor Derrick Adams (Derrick Adams) joined CBS News' "Sunday Morning" 🌞 to discuss his current mid-career retrospective on view at the ICA/Boston!

Adams says in his interview with Nancy Giles that "if you see [his] work, you're going to see things that may remind you of times where you are in spaces where you feel safe and normal and human".

In complex and challenging times like we are experiencing now, it's important to reflect on and immerse yourself within spaces that are reflective of the diversity and tenacity of remarkable individuals such as Professor Adams.

The New York City Trans Archives (NYC Trans Archives) will be hosting their first public exhibition, opening this upcoming Sunday, July 26th from 3pm to 5pm in Room 210 at the LGBT Community Center in Manhattan at 208 West 13th Street. The event is free and will have light refreshments available.

The exhibition is titled "Our Existence is Resistance: Trans Advocacy Abounds" and will be on display from July 26th to August 30th.
