IN MEMORY of Roman Borgman (Rumen Borimetchkov): "The Woman In Gold" A Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, a remarkable 1907 gold leaf painting by celebrated artist Gustav Klimt. This masterpiece represents a symbol of hope, love, and personal story. The FB page "La Forza Dell'Opera" was created in July'2012 by Roman's first wife Biliana in representation of special personal life story uniquely related to the real story of Maria Altmann, the rightful owner of the painting: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/remarkable-true-story-behind-helen-5460199 : "There is such an incredible story behind that painting. It is the story of the unimaginable suffering, but it is also a story of hope..... Maria Altmann did not revel in her wealth, refusing even to buy a new car or redecorate her home. Most of the money went to charity, including scholarships for aspiring opera singers in honour of her husband."

IN MEMORY of Roman Borgman: "Opera tonight benefits Bulgaria's abandoned children"
Published Aug 25, 2010, Nantucket, MA
The Inter-Atlantic Music Foundation, a U.S. non-profit, hopes to establish regular opera events on Nantucket each summer in a series of Italian, Russian, French and German programs featuring music and voice by some of the world’s most renowned performers. The foundation was founded by its president, Roman Borgman, a professional opera singer who aids young artists in preparing for careers in opera.
The concerts tonight and on August 27 begin at 7 p.m. and will showcase the talents of conductor Roger Malouf, an assistant conductor with the Metropolitan Opera who has served on the staff of the New York City Opera. Joining him is soprano Junko Watanabe, a resident artist with New York City’s Dicapo Opera Theater, who recently sang the title role in “Madame Butterfly” with the Opera Theater of Connecticut.
Also performing will be soprano Evelyn Thatcher, who has sung and appeared as soloist in operas across the nation and in Europe. Mezzo-soprano Hayden DeWitt, who recently completed an opera tour in Eastern Europe, debuted with the First Coast Opera singing the role of Hansel in Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel.” She is also mezzo-soprano with the Walt Disney Company, serving as soloist in the Italian Pavilion at Disney’s Florida EPCOT Center.
The Nantucket program will begin with Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” and Mozart’s duet for “The Marriage of Figaro.” Next are pieces by Gounod. First, Faust — the aria of “Marguerite,” and then the aria of “Romeo and Juliet.” The Dvorak aria from “Rusalka” follows and then Puccini’s aria of “Suor Angelica” will be performed. Puccini’s La Boheme duet “Mimi and Rodolfo,” and his aria from “Madame Butterfly” are next and precede an intermission.
In the concert’s second half, the first piece will be Camille Saint-Saens’ duet aria from “Lakme,” and then Delibes’ aria “Song of Delila.” That will be followed by Puccini’s aria of “Turandot” and his aria of “Tosca.” Offenbach’s aria “Tales of Hoffman” is next, then Rossini’s “Cats” trio. The Strauss aria “The Fledermaus,” another aria from “Flerdermaus,” Kalman’s The Czardas Princesse “Czardas” and Verdi’s La Traviata “Libiamo ne’lieti calici” complete the operas.

This post is dedicated IN THE MEMORY of Roman Borgman (Rumen Borimetchkov), Founder and President of Inter Atlantic Music Foundation. Unfortunately he suddenly passed away 6 months ago (4/8/2016). Roman's life was dedicated to help artists bridge the gap between conventional voice education and the professional operatic stage. He had a sincere heart for promoting young Opera singers and his desire was to bring the magic of the opera to all communities. In 2005 he became a founder of Inter Atlantic Music Foundation, a nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to the education and promotion of a sincere appreciation of classical music in all its forms. Roman and his first wife, Biliana Borimetchkova, who fully supported his work, performed numerous fundraising concerts in 2010 -- 2012 in Nantucket, MA, NYC, and Baltimore, MD to benefit Karina Association, a non-profit organization serving abandoned and disabled children.
In 2011 Roman and Biliana started the project of LA FORZA dell'OPERA featuring opera talents such as Boiko Zvetanov, Edgar Jaramilio, Evelyn Thatcher along with pianist Roger Malouf, the assistant conductor of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. http://www.ack.net/opera081910.html
After his second marriage to Maryann Mootos, an operatic soprano, Roman was able to continue and expand his operatic work in NYC. Under his leadership many Opera concerts were performed in 2013-2016. After his passing his second wife, Maryann is appointed to be Artistic Director of La Forza dell'Opera project. http://www.laforzadellopera.com
