About 75% of my life happens outside the Teahouse.
It feels like quite a confession for a business owner. One could argue I should devote 120% of my time to growing it. More marketing. More events. More expansion. More.
But I want to keep it that way.
I didn’t leave corporate finance because I was tired of working hard. I left because I wanted my work to create something meaningful in the world, not just another financial statement. If profit became the purpose once again, I would have changed careers without changing anything that truly mattered.
My business had to be built on different principles. Not selling tea in the most cost-efficient way, but creating a space for reflection, an opportunity to see the world through different values, and the freedom to reconsider the ones we have quietly accepted as our own.
I have to live by those same principles. Otherwise, sooner or later, the Teahouse would become just another business.
That is why I protect my 25/75 balance.
A tea session in the Teahouse lasts only ninety minutes. The ceremony begins long before the kettle is on.
