I smile when I see that Kennedy Christmas Throwback even though two of the people are no long here. Memories are funny that way -- a mixup of sadness and joy.

Two years ago on this day, my beautiful sister, Sheila, took her last breath while holding my mother's hand in our den which is my office where I am sitting right now. She was 59 years old. I was her caregiver after she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer and I remember every moment.

Instead of sharing sad memories from that time, I have a highlight reel of unexpected joy... the smile on Sheila's face when we brought her a special Thanksgiving meal in the hospital including her favorite cassava biscuits... listening to her on the phone in the middle of the night sharing what she thought was important... all of us trying to stay awake to watch Home Alone for movie night in the private hospital room I fought for... unapologetically asking the doctors to come back because we were praying with our cousin on the phone... seeing her freak out the staff when she was trying to do yoga in hospice... her surprise when cousins came in from various places to visit... buying out every local store's stock of pineapple and mango icees and seeing her grin when I brought in the bounty... finally back at home witnessing her delight when our nephew Daniel walked in the room... watching a CeCe Winans concert on YouTube together with Mom... a sister's gratitude when I washed her hair... seeing her treasure her own little live Xmas tree (a gift from a cousin)... hearing her laugh as her dearest friend sang Christmas songs to her on the phone... the sun breaking through the dark clouds and shining brightly on her face right after she took her last breath (fitting for her nickname, Sunshine), and most of all, being in awe of her bravery throughout all of it. It was an honor to take that journey with her.

The day before she passed, Sheila was reaching out and looking intently at something. Every fiber of my being told me it was my father who passed away 20 years ago in this same house. I love them both immensely and miss them so intensely every day.

Life goes on. Mom turned 90 a few weeks ago and we had a big birthday bash here. Last weekend, I put up the Christmas tree (in the same spot as years ago) and put up the same decorations Mom used to put up (in this 100-year-old historical house). Gifts are under the tree though a few less than usual. Nat King Cole is playing in the background. The outdoor kitten Sheila fed is grown and just had a pair of adorable kittens, and Daniel has exciting things happening bringing new life to the family. Life goes on... but not in the same way.

So, inspired by our Sunshine, pause and reflect right now on those you love. Reach out by video call or give them a hug in person. And if they are no longer here... smile, remember, and know that their presence was a gift.

Sending you Love & Light... and a Happy Holiday Season from the Kennedy family.

At 57, I’m not interested in “anti-aging.” I’m interested in living strong, clear, and fully alive -- for decades to come.

That’s why I created Breathe & Burn: Jumpstart... a 6-week live series designed to help you rebuild strength, mobility, balance, and confidence from the inside out.

This is not extreme fitness. It’s not performance yoga.
And it’s not about pushing through pain.

It’s a longevity-focused, breath-led system grounded in yoga, neuroscience, and real-life experience — including rebuilding my own body after illness.

If you’re ready to:
✨ Move better
✨ Feel stronger
✨ Reconnect to your body with intelligence and care

Jumpstart begins in January 10th. Early-bird is now open and ends on December 31st. Save your spot here:

Happy Birthday Tao! Today would have been my mentor, Tao Porchon-Lynch's 107th birthday. I met Tao in a master yoga class at Integral Yoga in NY. She came up to me and said, "I want to know you." It was love at first sight. Her energy was magical and our work together changed my life. It was what they did NOT teach me at Harvard Business School (though I learned a lot there so no knock to HBS).

After attending more yoga workshops with Tao, I finally asked if I could interview her (after all, I'm a daughter of a journalist). I had some hints there was more to her story. In those three hours, I learned about her marching with Mahatma Gandhi, helping Jews escape the N***s as a French Resistance fighter under General de Gaulle, becoming a couture model for Chanel and others, being signed under MGM as an actress in Hollywood, producing/distributing films globally, co-founding the American Wine Society, founding/running a wine newspaper, and so much more. Guinness World Records recognized her twice, first as the Oldest Yoga Teacher and then Oldest Competitive Ballroom Dancer (female).

Fast forward, we created the Tao Brand-Legacy project which my mother and I funded because we saw the value in the world knowing about this incredible woman. I spent a decade traveling with Tao as her biographer and protege, and got her booked at some of my empowerment events and non-yoga venues like the Harvard Club of NY, United Nations and the Newark Education Peace Summit hosted by His Holiness The Dalai Lama. The picture above is at our Conversation With A Master event at Lead With Love Aspen.

We curated 66 one-of-a-kind events, co-wrote two award-winning books, and co-produced multiple online courses of her teachings. It was an amazing ride. When she passed away in 2020 at age 101, she had become a global icon covered by media around the world and adored by notables like Tony Robbins, Kate Winslet, Carmen Diaz, and Dr. Deepak Chopra (who called her a mentor and wrote the front cover endorsement for her autobiography). Most of all, Tao also loved the ride!

Do you want to witness true embodied living? Learn more about Tao here: https://thetaoexperience.com/

In celebration of Tao, we are offering a 20% discount on her books and courses. See the award-winning products below and use code TAOBDY25 at checkout until August 31, 2025.

How authentic are you? That question is on my mind a lot today because it’s the 20th anniversary of my father’s passing. Dad was larger than life and I still miss him every day. Yet, I am also immensely grateful for him being in my life for as long as he was. His work with my mom took us around the world and his deep love for our family was truly a blessing.

So many of us are seeking to be authentic in our daily lives. Dad was quite unique in that he was 100% authentic, 100% of the time. Anyone who met him would get that sense almost immediately. He was so present, and his energy was magnetic. He had the gift of working in his dharma/purpose, and you could feel it. As a professor of theatre arts, known as "Mr. Speech, he knew how to "bring it on" and show up fully in all areas of life.

Right after he passed, I wrote “The Power of… Authenticity” as part of my monthly column. I hope you will be inspired by his example:

What path are you really on? Sometimes you’re moving in a certain direction, the one you have meticulously planned, and you end up on an unrecognizable road. You think you’ve made a wrong turn. You don’t quite know where you’re going. Perhaps you’ve come up against what looks like a roadblock. Don’t resist it even though it may be a bit bumpy and uncharted. Look around. See where it will take you. Take in the sights and new experiences. Although it is clearly not the path on which you originally set out to travel, it could very well take you to a more beautiful destination. Be present and patient. You may be just where you need to be.

Do you need help navigating your path? Want a personalized strategy, along with self-mastery tools, to enable you to play full out without burnout? Find out more about my Embodied Success Coaching: https://lnkd.in/enTk9KBU
