Please join us in congratulating Hunter student Lydia Peal on being selected for the TRAIN Program (Translational Research and Implementation Science for Nurses), an NIH/NHLBI-funded initiative focused on advancing cardiovascular health equity. 🎉

The TRAIN Program is a highly competitive opportunity designed to help DNP students strengthen their skills in translating evidence into practice and advancing implementation science in real-world healthcare settings. This , we’re spotlighting Lauder Fellow Marina Spektor, Class of ’26.

With 14 years of nursing experience, including experience in the neuroscience ICU and recovery room at NYU Langone Health, Marina came to Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing ready to grow her clinical knowledge and take on a more advanced role in patient care.

Through the Evelyn Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program, Marina is developing the skills to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care while gaining a deeper understanding of health equity and the structural factors that influence health outcomes. Her experience working with diverse patient populations across New York City shaped her commitment to addressing gaps in care and supporting patients beyond the clinical setting.

As an immigrant and bilingual provider, Marina strives to serve communities like her own with empathy, expertise, and a holistic approach to care.

Join us in celebrating Marina and the future of nursing leadership 💜

Our Hunter Nursing student leaders recently traveled to Houston to attend the 74th Annual National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) Convention, an inspiring gathering of nursing students, faculty, and leaders from across the country.

Throughout the conference, students participated in educational sessions, explored emerging innovations in nursing, strengthened their clinical knowledge, and built meaningful connections with peers and professionals nationwide. Opportunities like these are critical in preparing the next generation of nurse leaders to advance health equity and transform care.

We’re also proud to share that Hunter-Bellevue’s Nursing Student Association was recognized with the New York State Newsletter Contest Award, a testament to the leadership, creativity, and dedication of our students.

Congratulations to our student leaders, the entire NDP team, and faculty advisors Dr. Tan and Dr. Thompson for this outstanding achievement. 💜

Help us celebrate them in the comments!

Last week was Black Maternal Health Week. During this time, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing health equity for Black mothers and families. Black maternal health outcomes continue to highlight disparities in access to care, support, and resources, particularly during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Improving these outcomes requires a stronger approach to maternal health that includes both physical and mental care. This month, we’re proud to highlight the work of Dr. Bobbie Posmontier, the inaugural Evelyn Lauder Chair in Psychiatric Mental Health. As a leader in perinatal mental health, her work focuses on postpartum depression and improving outcomes for mothers and infants, including the development of innovative digital tools to expand access to care.

At the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing, this commitment is reflected in how we educate and train future nurses to provide equitable, patient-centered care across communities.
