The Opera Studio provides opportunites for a wide renage of students to perform complete operas and scenes from the standard repertory.

Over the past several years, the Queens College Opera Studio has been recognized with awards from the National Opera Association’s opera competition for such productions as Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo (2009), Argento’s Postcard from Morocco (2011), and faculty member Bruce Saylor’s My Kinsmen, Major Molineaux and The Image Maker (2012). Sad that the new school year is just around the corner? Don't be! Queens College Opera will be bringing you some spectacular new performances, including our annual main stage opera, Le Nozze di Figaro, in Spring 2018!

THIS SATURDAY, June 24 @ 1pm, BAROQUE OPERA WORKSHOP AT QUEENS COLLEGE will present scenes from Cavalli's L'Ercole Amante. This program was founded by David Ronis (Queens College Opera's former Director), and boasts Queens College's Baroque specialist, Prof. Dongmyung Ahn as a member of their string faculty.

While identifiable as a “traditional” production, this version, performed in English, has been purged of some of the creakier traditions so long associated with the show. Two extraordinary casts of talented grads and undergrads, assisted by two guest artists, give the show a freshness often lost in larger and more lavish productions.
