Over the past several years, the Queens College Opera Studio has been recognized with awards from the National Opera Association’s opera competition for such productions as Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo (2009), Argento’s Postcard from Morocco (2011), and faculty member Bruce Saylor’s My Kinsmen, Major Molineaux and The Image Maker (2012). Recent works have included Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites, Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Debussy’s La Damoiselle Élue, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Le Nozze di Figaro, and Cosí fan tutte, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Copland’s The Tenderland, and Britten’s The R**e of Lucretia. Queens College Opera Studio is a participant in the New York Opera Alliance. Admission to QCO is by audition for both the main-stage productions and the scenes program.
