We’re thrilled to share Summer Lopez’s incredible journey as the Atlas Tennis Scholarship recipient, sponsored by Boast. Thanks to this program, she had the chance to train and compete abroad, explore new cultures, and grow both on and off the court. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

“I just wanted to thank you and all the directors in the program so much for nominating me as the Atlas Tennis Scholarship recipient sponsored by Boast. This extraordinary experience has been a true gift that has allowed me the opportunity to travel abroad to train and compete on beautiful clay courts in Spain, Holland and Switzerland.

I truly had such a great time exploring the world and different cultures all while growing, learning and playing tennis. I had the chance to meet new players within the tennis world and made great friend's. I was able to make so many great memories that I will always cherish and think back on.

This program has truly been a blessing in my life and I can’t thank you enough for all that it has done for me. It has made me grow in terms of my tennis goals and aspirations. Thank you once again for all the opportunities, friends, connections, and the life long memories you have help me create.”

Today is National Girls & Women in Sports Day, which serves not only as a celebration of the achievements girls and women have made in sports, but also as a reminder of the ongoing pursuit of equality.

It is important to recognize the work and dedication of those who have paved the way for equality in sports, inspiring future generations to reach their full potential, regardless of their gender.

This year, we are especially proud to honor Deborah Slaner Larkin, NYJTL’s 2026 Gala Honoree, whose leadership has helped shape that movement from the very beginning. Deborah played a key role in establishing National Girls & Women in Sports Day in 1987, working alongside the Women’s Sports Foundation and members of Congress to elevate it to a national platform.

We are proud to continue this legacy at NYJTL, supporting and empowering the next generation of girls and women to thrive both on and off the court.
