Young Changers

Young Changers Empowering Youth to become Community Changers. Young Changers is an education non-profit organization dedicated to building young community changers.

Our goal is to provide elementary and middle school students with the opportunity to become community changers—active leaders who solve problems and bring about positive change in their communities. At Young Changers, we empower students to become community changers by partnering with school leaders to help them start, build and enhance their community engagement programs. We provide free workshops, consultations, planning materials and other resources to schools in the hopes that they can transform their local communities by building young community changemakers. The idea for Young Changers came from the creation of a community engagement program at a school in Queens, New York. A group of teachers decided to create a community engagement program at the school in order to empower their students to become more active leaders in their communities. The success of the program drew interest from other teachers and schools in New York and Young Changers was created to help other schools establish similar community programs. Three guiding principles form the foundation for our work. First, we believe that the path to community change lies in the hands of our youth. Second, we believe that any child can become a community changer if provided with the right opportunities. Finally, we believe that local schools play a crucial role in the development and guidance of young community changers. At Young Changers, we aim to support schools in their efforts to empower young leaders to be the change they want to see in the world.
