If you need a competent, experienced and motivating private tutor or teacher of English whose aim and style is student-centered learning, read on because you may have come to the right place. I am a private tutor and teacher with a high success rate of improving the performance of English Speakers of Other Languages as well as K-12 and college level students in Writing and Speaking. I also help students meet their goals for the Common Core Standards Exams, the Regents, the ACT and the TOEFL exams. Finally, I enjoy working with business people on memos, letters, and presentations. I seek to develop my students' sense of their own worth and independent judgment. You will find me to be communicative, warm, and attentive to details, quick to ascertain where you need help, but not judgmental and go about my work with sympathy, and a sense of humor. I will help bring out the best in you, but you will not feel unnecessarily pushed. With a bachelors degree in liberal arts from Yale University, I and a Master's Degree in TESOL (Teaching of English to Students of Other Languages) from Hunter College, I've learned the latest techniques for teaching reading, writing, pronunciation and accent reduction to students whose native language is not English. Prior work experience includes working in a charter school with elementary-level students and over 20 years working in financial services where I was an educator and writer. My work has always involved writing clear and concise instruction and explaining complex ideas to clients and staff.
