Join us tomorrow for a special virtual gathering celebrating our school's rich legacy and inspiring roots in one of New York City's most iconic neighborhoods.

Event: "Elisabeth Irwin & Greenwich Village" with LREI History Teacher Ann Carroll
Date: May 28, 2025
Time: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. EST
Location: Zoom

Join LREI history teacher Ann Carroll for a presentation exploring LREI founder Elisabeth Irwin's rich life in the vibrant and dynamic political and artistic scene of Greenwich Village in the early 20th century. From Irwin’s arrival in the neighborhood in 1903 until her death in 1942, she crossed paths, shared tables, and fought battles with some of the most extraordinary men and women in American history. From ACLU founder Crystal Eastman, to the first woman elected to Congress Jeannette Rankin; labor advocate Frances Perkins, to educational pioneer John Dewey — among others — this conversation will explore the ways in which Elisabeth Irwin’s story is woven into the greater fabric of the history of the Village, New York and the nation. Whether you’re a longtime alum or recently graduated, this is a chance to reconnect, reflect, and learn about our school's remarkable founder.

Nat Towsen '03 is performing his hour-long standup show in New York for the first time on April 26 at Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York! Click on the link below to get tickets.

Nat spent most of 2024 on tour, performing standup in such exotic locations as Toronto, Denver, southeast Alaska, Paris, and Miami Beach. He is finally bringing his hour-long show, The Thinker, home to New York on April 26, 2025. More New York performances will be announced later this year.

This spring, for the fifth consecutive year, Towsen participated in CU Boulder's Inside the Greenhouse program, working with a team of student researchers to write standup about the climate crisis. This year's program included performances at the Boulder Theatre and New York Comedy Club.

At the end of 2024, Towsen signed with Arc Literary Management, who now represent him for prose and graphic novel writing. Someday, he'll be able to tell you why.
