What better way to celebrate another fantastic year at GBS than a trip to the beach 🏝️?! Gillen Brewer was transformed into a tropical paradise for our End-of-Year Party 🎉. There was a photo booth, fishing, pin the coconut on the tree, tasty treats, and cool shades for everyone 😎. Maybe there’s a chance to break out the sunglasses again at Field Day next Tuesday? 🤩

A baker, a doctor, and a construction worker walk into a classroom🧑‍🍳🧑‍⚕️👷… No that isn’t the beginning of a joke, it actually happened in the Orange room. Orange room students proudly presented their Community Worker Projects to their families and they were so excited to share everything they’ve learned 🙌. And you know what they say — Dress for the job you want! 😁.

Did you hear about the new museum that opened in NYC this week? 🏛️ The Copper Museum of American History at GBS! The Copper class presented their Colonial America projects to fellow GBS students, families, and staff, covering everything from slavery and colonial home life to the Columbian Exchange and the Revolutionary War. Copper students even put together some fun interactive exhibits, including tossing tea overboard (Boston Tea Party style ☕🌊) and trying their hand at writing with a quill and ink! ✍️ And who could forget the costumes?! 😁Huge kudos to our Copper room scholars for all their hard work and creativity. We are so proud of you!

We have some exciting news! Gillen Brewer is thrilled to announce the appointment of Amy Salomon as the next Head of School, effective July 1, 2026.

Amy brings nearly 30 years of independent school leadership to this role, including her work since 2023 as our Director of Middle School and Enrollment — where she founded our middle school program and strengthened our admissions experience.

Her student-centered approach, strategic vision, and deep commitment to supporting diverse learners make her the perfect leader to guide Gillen Brewer into its next chapter.

What does it take to build a building? The Turquoise and Silver classes went straight to the source! 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️ After a tour of JRM Construction Management and a crash course in all the roles that bring a building to life, students broke into groups to construct their own — but there was a catch. Their structures had to meet weight, wind, and budget requirements. With hard hats on and pencils ready, our GBS builders got to work — and the results were impressive. 🏗️✨

After an impressive interview (“who’s a good boy?”), we shook his paw and made him an offer 🐾. Wags had a great first day today, spending some time with the Orange and Turquoise rooms. Students learned about what Wags likes and what he doesn’t like, saw a few of the tricks he can do, and got to pet him and brush him 😁.

We can’t wait to see Wags again! 🤩
