The Kal & Lucille Rudman Institute host events that focus on the many areas of the entertainment industry.

The Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies strives to explore the seemingly limitless possibilities in today’s entertainment industry, where old, new and yet-to-be-created content work together. In the new media landscape, everyone can create films that millions might view online or perform songs in their own homes, giving them access to audiences that were out of reac

h to them before. These new innovators along with the established media organizations are making the future together and one thing is clear - the media industry has ceased being a top down enterprise. The Rudman Institute is dedicated to helping the students at Drexel University navigate this exciting new world. The mission of the Rudman Institute is to combine the resources of Drexel University, the dynamism of Philadelphia and the expertise of industry, academic, civic and community leaders, to forge a blueprint for harnessing the energy of the evolving media landscape. The institute accomplishes this by inviting a wide array of top creative and business figures in the arts to campus for events that are open to students, faculty and the public. In most cases, the guests also meet for a meal with small groups of students who are able to spend time with leaders in their fields of interest. Additionally, we have held master classes with several luminaries, among them a leading Broadway performer/radio host, a group of cable programming executives and two editors of a leading satire newspaper. This kind of exposure offers the students real life insight into various avenues of the entertainment world and provides them with contacts they can pursue as they go forward with their education and their careers. The Rudman institute works collaboratively with the various programs within The Antoinette Westphal College as well as with several other colleges within Drexel University, and collaborates with the Rudman Center at Temple University on a yearly co-produced event. Another aspect of the Rudman Institute’s work is to reach out to the industry to help arrange coop opportunities for Drexel students
Most Rudman Institute events air on DUTV, giving students the opportunity to work on the production and post-production of these broadcasts.
