Rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft are meant to provide passengers with safe transportation. However, thousands of victims have been sexually assaulted by their drivers — and rideshare companies may be partially to blame.

Victims claim rideshare companies have failed to implement necessary safety precautions to protect their passengers, despite the companies being aware of the abuse taking place through their platforms.

In 2022, Uber released a safety report that revealed 3,824 sexual assaults occurred during trips between 2019 and 2020. A similar report from Lyft found over 4,000 sexual assaults occurred from 2017 to 2019.
People that have been affected are now taking legal action which may lead to compensation.
